The Armada Cup

19 th – 22 nd Feb
3 Welsh Divers attended The Armada Cup – now in its 23rd year and one of the most popular competitions in the UK hosted in Plymouth.
The competition mirrors the conditions for the Swim England National Age Groups and offer the perfect opportunity to ‘qualify’ for the national event later in 2022. The Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships, the largest national diving competition in England with athletes battling for national honors across four different age groups. The Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships form an important step for young divers on the pathway to the top of the sport.
Age Group – Group A Girls Results:
Group A 1M prelims results:
Ffion – 9th 217.75
Taryn – 6th 226.70 – Finalist – Bronze medal
Both hitting qualification for National Age Group Championships.

Group A Platform prelim results:
Ffion – 7th 195.10
Taryn – 4th 211.20 – Finalist – 6th
Both hitting NAGs qualification.

Group A 3M Prelim:
Ffion – 11th 195.05
Taryn – 4th 251.15 – Finalist – 6 th (NAG’s qualifier)

Group B Platform:

ACDC divers will progress in their pathway to the Swim England Diving National Age Group
Championships, the largest national diving competition in England hosted by Plymouth in June 2022.

20 th Feb – Gavin Brown Love To Dive: Skills Event

Aberdare Diving Club attended the  “Gavin Brown Love To Dive” Competition for novice and recreational divers hosted by Southampton Diving Academy.
This event is unique and designed with enthusiastic divers at the recreational level of the sport in mind. This was the first Skills event ACDC have attended outside of Wales since the pandemic. It was great to be back!
